Summer Respite and Camps

Community Living Oshawa/Clarington supports families to receive individualized summer respite funds for adults, and we also operate two summer services for children and young adults.

One is a camp offered through our children’s respite home for the children who attend this home throughout the year.

The second option, called Summer Sizzlers, is a recreational/leisure service designed for teens and young adults.  The focus is on developing life skills in a fun learning environment.  Participants choose what they want to participate in, based on their own personal goals and interests. Community resources are used at all times, including our transit system, local recreational centres, cooking groups and health and safety services.  Incorporated into the plans are visits to local attractions within the Oshawa/Toronto area that helps develop social skills.  These attractions include visits to local museums, Canada’s Wonderland, the Hockey Hall of Fame and more.

It should be noted that this program is completely dependent upon fundraising and grants to operate.
